What is the Metro East?

Hugging the Mississippi River in Illinois across from St. Louis and spreading up the bluffs, the metro-east area begins north in the Grafton/Alton/Riverbend area at the confluence of the Mississippi, Missouri and Illinois rivers through the Southern Illinois University community of Edwardsville, heading south to Scott Air Force Base near Shiloh and OFallon. Within a few miles, you can sail on the Illinois River, visit Pere Marquette State Park, shop historic downtown Edwardsville, see the famous ketchup bottle in Collinsville and jump on the Metro-Link system to head across the river to see the St. Louis Cardinals and dine on the Riverfront.
